Hi Everyone

Big News!

I have an update on the Woman Entrepreneur Award…

I am now a finalist for the award and I am still in shock. I thank my entire Woofer and Waggler parents who wrote me a letter of support and I have no words to describe how wonderful these letters are. I will be posting a few of them in our testimonial section of the web site. A special thank you to an incredibly supportive client who assisted with writing my entry for the nomination. Bobo’s mom I can’t thank you enough!!!

I will update you after the Gala on May 20th

On a personal note I wanted to let everyone know that having such a great group of visitors and fantastic Aunties at Woofs has enabled me to fulfill another one of my goals in life. The goal for 10 years was to volunteer with children with my dogs. In the past year I have taken steps to develop and initiate a program similar to the R.E.A.D. (reading education assistance dogs) in an elementary school. I now spend Monday and Friday afternoons at a local school with Dizzy. The school aged children read to Dizzy and assist in promoting the love to read. Our goal is to have the children want to read aloud and to increase their reading comprehension and develop confidence surrounding reading. Dizzy is loved by the whole school and she has certainly become the princess in this environmentJ My long term goal is to become nationally qualified to initiate a larger based program in multiple schools and to train other volunteer handler/dog teams.

My goal was to synergize my two passions in life. The 2 passions are dogs and teaching children. There is a special bond and magic between dogs and children and to see this magic is unbelievableJ I see it everyday with my daughter who has already worked 2 “shifts” in our Waggler level. She cuddles the Wagglers, carries her water sprayer, cleans the balls and picks up water bowls and tidies for closing time. Need I say another word!!!!:)

On a lighter note the dog world has  raised “the bar” for us crazy dog lovers!! Let me introduce you to our recently married canine couple:

  Squid and Roxy:

DSCF1070

On April 8th at the Viva Paws Vegas  they were “legally” married and as the vows were said:

“By the authority vested in me by the Universal Church of Life, I now pronounce you sire and dam— what we hath joined together, let no man, woman, stud or bitch put asunder.”

Both members of this couple attend our daycare and we love them.

I guess I have to keep an eye on them to make sure they are not flirting with others.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME…..

You think it is fun playing ball at home. We take it to a whole new level. We have distance strategists, we have professional soccer players, we have the best catchers and aerial acrobats. Everyone has their own styles.

Zoe Buroows wins for “go long” for the ball and never takes her eye off the ball. Seven and Ireland are best at aerial catches. The precision and determination ranks these dogs as “top ball players” in our Waggler level.

Woofer top ball players go to Lacey will do anything for the ball and is our top soccer dog. Then we have the professional catchers like Diego, Deuce and Yaffa. Top Aerial star goes to Seamus.

Hats off to our talented group of dogs. I guess I should mention other talents in daycare. We have the “look how cute I am” group, the “catch me if you can” group, the “I have you trained to rub my belly” group, “I’m hiding and you cant see me” group and many more that make our hearts warm and giggle everyday.

Dogs are all special and for those reasons and many more we are so lucky to have them in our lives to make us smileJ Smiling is easy and often at Woofs!! You should see Brindle our 120 pound English Mastiff puppy right now. Who couldn’t smile to look at him playing like a baby and smiles from ear to ear.
